Letting the dogs loose in Tallaght
Adding legs to the May SHADES fundraising campaign, we are hosting our annual dog walk in Tallaght on 16 May 2010. Dog lovers of all ages are invited to support us by participating in this fun event.
Earlier this month, our patron, Roy Keane, helped to launch the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind Supervalu SHADES campaign, aimed at raising funds for the provision of guide and assistance dogs for people who are blind or vision impaired and families of children with autism.
Padraig Mallon, IGDB's Chief Executive said: "Our SHADES campaign is one of the highlights on our annual fundraising calendar. It makes a significant contribution to our annual income each year, both through the selling of our SHADES pins at outlets countrywide and through other fundraising events such as our annual dog walk."
The dog walk kicks off at 3:30pm from Tymon Park car park in Tallaght. Participants who would like to use the event as an opportunity to fundraise can contact our Fundraising Team on lo-call 1850 506 300 for sponsorship cards.
It costs approximately 38,000 to breed, train and support a single guide or assistance dog partnership. All of IGDB's services are offered free of charge and over 85% of the charity's income is secured through voluntary donations and fundraising.
