SHADES be smart, be cool, wear shades!
SHADES is our national fundraising and awareness week, which takes place during May or June every year for just one week. It’s a fun week when we ask people to buy a SHADES pin for €2 or donate money to wear their shades to school. The campaign also draws attention to better eye health and the need to ensure that any sunglasses we wear protect us from ultra-violet radiation preventing sight difficulties in later life.
Collect used stamps
This is an easy way for school children to get involved in fundraising, and contributes to their overall education by teaching them to empathise with other people and their lives.
All stamps collected are sent to a stamp collecting company, who send them on to retailers to sell on to tourists or ship them overseas to stamp dealers.
Download the Be a Stamp Champ leaflet here for more information on the scheme or contact our Fundraising Department on 1850 506 300 or fundraising@guidedogs.ie
Recycling Appeal
Everyone knows recycling is good for the environment, but did you know that recycling is also good for Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind?
If you use a printer or fax machine, each used cartridge could earn IGDB around €1.50. Each used mobile phone is worth around €7.
Taking part is easy. Simply visit www.recyclingappeal.ie and click the ‘Recycle Now’ button and follow the instructions. Alternatively, contact IGDB Fundraising Department on 1850 506 300 or e-mail fundraising@guidedogs.ie for a Recycling Information Pack or click to download the Recycling Information in pdf format.
