What is your name and where are you from?
My name is Marjan Foley de Boer and I live in Co. Waterford
What’s the name of your puppy in training and how old is he?
We have raised 8 puppies so far and our last puppy Winnie went to Cork to start her early training to be a Guide Dog when she was 12 months old.
How long have you been puppy raising?
I have been a Puppy Raiser for almost 10 years now!
Why did you decide to become a Puppy Raiser?
I met some lovely ladies who were fundraising for Irish Guide Dogs and they gave me some information about Puppy Raising and I was hooked. I rang Irish Guide Dogs HQ in Cork soon after and following a house visit we had our first puppy!
What’s the best thing about Puppy Raising?
The best thing about Puppy Raising is seeing this tiny puppy growing into a lovely confident dog, who will behave in shops, cafes, on the bus and in the train and everywhere he or she is taken. There is also the social aspect, meeting up with other Puppy Raisers and talking to people while fundraising and hoping that they too will be interested in raising a puppy. I recommend it to anybody.
