2023 Holiday Raffle Winner, Caroline O Connor

It was a rainy day here at the Training Centre back on August 26th 2023.

As Councillor Paudie Dineen got ready to draw a ticket from our tombola for our annual Holiday Voucher Raffle, Caroline O ’Connor had no idea about the news she was about to receive.

Fast forward to today, Caroline is departing on a wonderful cruise of the Greek Islands with her family. Our Communications team spoke to Caroline about that day and how she planned to use the voucher.

“I’m originally from Lough Talt, Co. Sligo but I live in London with my partner and daughter in London. We try to plan our summer visit to my family in Ireland around the time of the Tubbercurry Fair day/week. 

So last year we were at the Fair and my daughter Ava-Rose persuaded me to buy a Rraffle Tticket for the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind at their stall which also gave us an opportunity to say ‘Hello’ to retired Guide Dog “Guinness”. 

We love dogs!  

A few weeks later I got a call from a friendly Corkman saying “Please don’t swear you’re live on radio” and he proceeded to let us know we’d won the Hholiday voucher. 

I thought initially he was joking but it slowly sank in, and my daughter was planning straight away.

Fast forward a year later and here we are waiting to depart on our cruise around the Greek Islands for a week. Still can’t believe we’re actually on board, it’s 38 degrees and we’re having cocktails by one of their many pools.
