Making the move to college easy!
Our Next Step Programme aims to equip young people who are blind, or vision impaired with the skills to manage the transition to life in college.
This 5-day residential course is delivered in a relaxed and supportive environment, with the opportunity to spend time with peers.
Course content includes:
A day in the life of a student: Visit to a college campus and student accommodation.
Interview skills, CV writing and job platforms.
Money management skills: managing bank accounts, internet banking, Apple, and Google Pay. Budgeting and making your money go further.
Personal safety in the community
Using public transport and transport apps.
Independent living skills development: Meal preparation and a practical session evaluating kitchen equipment.
Assistive technology and apps to make life easier.
Introduction to dog mobility
We train people from the age of 16. All courses are provided at no cost to you, however, we do charge a nominal cost of €10.00 for accommodation and food for the 5 days you will stay at our Centre to be trained.
